Abstract

Atopic dermatitis is a common dermatologic condition seen across all racial and ethnic populations. Recent studies demonstrate differences in genetics and clinical presentation, especially among skin of color, that impact disease burden and management. In this chapter, the authors discuss the prevalence, presentation, and diagnostic and treatment challenges in skin of color patients based on current literature. Recognizing and understanding these differences will significantly improve patient care and the development of specialized therapies.
